About The Position

The Social Work Fellow is a unique, two-year, clinical training position designed to help MSW/MA graduates gain the skills and supervision necessary to apply for clinical licensure, while also providing needed mental health services within the Department of Psychiatry clinics. This position requires innovation, flexibility, and the ability to work across healthcare systems. The Social Work Fellow will provide direct social work services under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional. These services may include individual, couples, family, or group therapy; case management; research support; or community training/advocacy. While providing these services, the Social Work Fellow will be participating in a training program to build their skills around diagnosis, evidence-based practice models, and integrated health models. This position is a two-year training program, with employment not guaranteed beyond the training period.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work from an accredited MSW program or a similar clinical Master’s Degree (i.e. Master’s in Counseling)
  • Completion of a Master’s Level Internship with experience in providing direct therapeutic services
  • The Social Work Fellow must have an LSW or a Social Work Permit in the State of Colorado
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of patients, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
  • Strong technology skills including use of an electronic medical record system and video conferencing programs

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical skill is required for conducting brief and targeted assessments in integrated care settings to provide short-term psychotherapy interventions, health and behavior change and triage for appropriate level of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct social work services and conduct intake assessments of new patients to determine diagnosis and treatment
  • Develop treatment plans including provision of care and referral to additional appropriate resources
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults under the supervision of a licensed clinician
  • Provide clinical documentation/billing in the Electronic Medical Records system
  • Identify and support patient needs through case management and participate in continuity of care planning
  • Participate in didactics, trainings, and other professional development activities as deemed appropriate by supervisor or training program manager
  • Attend all on-site clinical/staff meetings
  • Build relationships with other departments and campuses
  • Identify appropriate resources within the community for referral and collaboration
  • Support the MSW Internship program through shared clinical activities
