About The Position

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global network of policy research centers, is seeking a dynamic Social Video Manager with a passion for digital storytelling and creative content to join its communications team in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position with an anticipated duration of 24 months. The Social Video Manager will be responsible for increasing Carnegie's overall video-based output on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube: training and coaching scholars in best practices; creating compelling short-form video content; connecting Carnegie scholars to networks of creators; and producing a strategy blueprint that can be shared with similarly positioned organizations operating in the new media landscape. This role will be critical in directing strategy and creative ideation to reach audiences via short form video, shooting and editing video content, working directly with scholars to improve delivery and storytelling, and facilitating shared learnings across Carnegie and partner organizations.

Requirements

  • 4 to 7 + years of experience in communications
  • At least 2 years dedicated to social video production
  • Demonstrated experience working with content creators, journalists, academics, or digital storytellers with a strong grasp of how to build and engage audiences on fact-based content
  • Deep understanding of social video platforms (particularly TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts)
  • Understanding how to tailor content for each platform
  • Understanding how to break through in an information landscape transforming due to artificial intelligence
  • A track record of producing compelling video content
  • Ability to set and adjust strategy based on trends
  • Strong editorial judgment and news instincts
