About The Position

The Wall Street Journal Social Video internship offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – October 31 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply. This team works directly with reporters and editors around the newsroom, as well as our video team to create engaging short, social-first breaking news and original videos.

Requirements

  • Experience with video editing software, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe InDesign and/or other relevant tools.
  • A deep knowledge of video-driven social platforms.
  • Completed at least one prior journalism internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
  • Ambitious students who think foremost about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure.
  • Commitment to high journalistic standards and excellent video editing skills are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Animation skills are a plus.
  • Comfort being on-camera.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our team to produce vertical videos for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.
  • Be involved in all steps of production: conceptualization, reporting, scripting, shooting and editing.
