Job Summary St Joseph Catholic Church, Farmington is seeking a Middle School Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The teacher is responsible for providing instruction aligned with Archdiocesan curriculum standards while supporting the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience teaching middle school students or working with adolescents.
  • Strong understanding of social studies content, instructional strategies, and adolescent development.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom‑management skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Must meet Archdiocesan compliance requirements, including Safe Environment training.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality social studies instruction aligned with school and Archdiocesan curriculum standards.
  • Create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes critical thinking and active learning.
  • Integrate Catholic values and perspectives into classroom discussions and learning experiences.
  • Develop lessons that incorporate primary sources, project‑based learning, and inquiry‑based activities.
  • Assess student progress using a variety of tools and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, grades, and student documentation.
  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
  • Collaborate with the middle school team on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary projects, and school initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and schoolwide events.
  • Model Catholic values and contribute positively to the spiritual life of the school community.
