About The Position

Benjamin Stoddert Middle School is seeking a Social Studies Teacher for a 10-month term of employment. This is an exempt position with a salary scale of EACC, U1. The teacher will be responsible for planning and providing appropriate learning experiences, supervising students, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and communicating with students, parents, staff, and the community. The role involves developing instructional plans and materials, fostering an environment conducive to student development, and striving for professional competence. Additionally, the teacher will maintain records, monitor the use of equipment and facilities, ensure regular attendance, serve on committees, and perform other duties as prescribed by law and policy. A key aspect of the role is assisting students in developing critical-thinking abilities by understanding Social Studies concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and meets licensure requirements as established by the Maryland State Department of Education.
• Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Evidence of exemplary human relation skills.
• Evidence of exemplary organizational and planning skills.
• Evidence of ability to work effectively with students, parents and staff.

• Other duties as prescribed by Maryland State Law, Board of Education policy, Negotiated Agreement and Building Principal.
• Assists students in developing critical-thinking abilities by gaining an understanding of Social Studies concepts.
