About The Position

The Lansing School District is seeking new social studies teachers to ensure students receive world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will work to build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students can collaborate towards common learning goals. Teachers will collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students to provide the best educational experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or social science field (i.e. history, political science, etc.)
• Previous experience working with middle school and high school students
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values

Nice To Haves

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a secondary social studies endorsement (i.e. CQ, CX, or RX preferred but possible to accept RA, RB, RC, RI, or any of the other phased out subject specific endorsements)
• Previous teaching experience in an urban setting
• Training in CRPBIS and other related instructional methodologies

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for and expertise of history, economics, government and other secondary social studies content
• Provide world-class instruction in social studies to middle and high school students
• Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
