About The Position

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is a 501(c)(3) private not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting high-quality, comprehensive community mental health programs in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Our mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities by fostering hope, healing, and support. As a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont, NKHS provides a wide range of services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges across Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties. With over 500 employees, NKHS offers case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school-based counseling, emergency care, and respite services to nearly 4,000 community members annually. NKHS is seeking a dynamic Behavior Interventionist to join our School Based Services Team at Barnet School, aiming to make a lasting impact on students' lives.

Requirements

• BA/BS in human services, education, psychology or related field preferred. If degree requirements are not complete, must be working toward completion within one year of being hired.
• Experience in ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) preferred
• Must have access to personal vehicle to transport students as needed.
• Flexibility, patience and willingness to learn.
• Able to work independently and as a member of a team providing support to students unable to access their education due to emotional/behavior challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students focused on social skills development, self-regulation, and daily functioning
• Implement individualized treatment and positive behavior support plans
• Follow crisis prevention and de-escalation protocols
• Collect and maintain accurate, timely behavioral data and documentation
• Collaborate with school teams, supervisors, and treatment providers
• Attend team meetings, supervision, and required trainings
• Support students in both school and community settings
