The Solano County Employment and Eligibility Services division of the Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for the position of Social Services Worker. Providing Public Assistance and Employment Services to Solano County. The Employment and Eligibility Services Division within the Health and Social Services Department assists citizens to become more independent and productive through programs designed to reduce dependency on welfare and promote personal responsibility. Also, it provides eligibility determination and benefit issuance for customers who apply for various public assistance benefits. Social Services Workers perform a wide variety of duties in support of agency programs and operations including home visits to clients, case review and monitoring, and coordination of services to clients; provide education, information, referral and case file maintenance; and functions as a liaison between community residents and program staff. This position provides entry into higher level classes in the mental health, substance abuse, and social services fields. Incumbents provide a variety of support services to clients in various, social services programs. While the work may vary depending upon the program to which assigned, all assignments include recognizing potential problems or emergency situations, utilizing use of agency or community resources and performing office support and record keeping tasks in support of the programs. Assignments are characterized by the provision of services in support of professionals within the program to which assigned. The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help bilingual Spanish positions as vacancies occur throughout the County.
