This position involves independently surveying, monitoring, evaluating, and inspecting licensed child care home providers and their home-based business operations. The role includes conducting initial, annual, and interim inspection visits, evaluating, monitoring, and providing ongoing supervision of licensed home providers. Responsibilities include timely completion of all assigned visits and updates in required computer systems, interpreting federal and state regulations and local laws, and ensuring provider compliance. The specialist will take regulatory action on non-compliance, observe provider-child interactions, monitor programming and equipment, and make recommendations for corrective action. They will also respond to problems in family child care homes and provide assistance, along with ongoing consultation services and supervision of service delivery through on-site visits and monitoring user feedback. The role also requires maintaining a caseload accurately using an integrated computerized data collection system, including demographics, background, training, histories, placement tracking, evaluations, and payment reconciliation. Communication with internal staff, community, and governmental agencies is essential, as is attending conferences and training.
