About The Position

Under general supervision, performs responsible support services and tasks associated with the operation and activities involving informal adjustments for Juvenile Court. This position requires a Federal NCIC background check and fingerprinting prior to accepting the position and every five (5) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment in the position.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, sociology, justice studies, or a related field. A valid driver’s license is required.
• OR An Associate’s Degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, sociology, justice studies, or a related field and two (2) years of direct work experience in a juvenile court environment, case management, social work, behavioral health, or a related field involving at-risk or troubled youth or juveniles involved in the court system. A valid driver’s license is required.
• OR The equivalent of a high school diploma and four (4) years of direct work experience in a juvenile court environment, case management, social work, behavioral health, or a related field involving at risk or troubled youth or juveniles involved in the court system. A valid driver’s license is required.
• This position requires a Federal NCIC background check and fingerprinting prior to accepting the position and every five (5) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment in the position.
• Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.

Nice To Haves

• A Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice or a related field and one (1) year of direct work experience in case management, social work, law enforcement, or a related field involving at-risk or troubled youth or juveniles involved in the court system is preferred for this position.
• Work experience in case management, social work, law enforcement or related duties involving at risk, troubled youth and/or juveniles involved in the court system preferred.
• Knowledge of laws relating to juveniles and child support is preferred.
• Experience in the use of the Tennessee Child Support Enforcement Services (TCSES) database is preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish and/or another language is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides a variety of functions and services in dealing with first-time offenders; interviews, gathers information and recommends appropriate sanctions as an alternative to filing a petition; identifies community resources relevant to the facts of the case; imposes fines, restitution, community service and/or other sanctions; works with parents, custodians, victims, law enforcement and others; sets informal hearing dates and status dates.
• Monitors compliance to conditions; determines appropriate response to failure to comply; initiates and drafts petitions; sets dates for hearing; advises appropriate parties regarding future and on-going court activities and schedules; compiles and completes reports, findings and related activities; maintains on-going records, files, statistical reports and worksheets regarding individual case activity.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
