About The Position

Social Services Assistants play an important role in supporting children and families involved with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This position provides direct support to families through transportation assistance, supervision of family time, and engagement with children and caregivers to help support safety, stability, and well-being. This position requires flexibility to meet the needs of children and families, including frequent in-state travel – and this job will require mornings, evenings and weekends because flexibility to meet the needs of the family is a must. Requirements

  • Minimum of six months of work experience in human services programs or public service.
  • Required to have a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely supervise and transport children of various ages.
  • Must be able to support families through positive communication, professionalism, and dependable service delivery.
  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in client intake and service referrals.
  • Provide basic counseling and resource navigation.
  • Maintain accurate records and case documentation.
  • Support community outreach and public education initiatives.
  • Coordinate scheduling and follow-ups for client services.
  • Provide direct support to families through transportation assistance, supervision of family time, and engagement with children and caregivers to help support safety, stability, and well-being.
