About The Position

Our Bridges team is seeking a Social Services Assistant (Bridges Programs & Hospitality Assistant) for an 8-week Canada Summer Jobs opportunity for 35 hours per week. This role will support front-line hospitality and our adult summer program, serving individuals and families in our local community. This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, administrative, organized, and enjoys working in a community-focused environment. Please note that this job opening is for Canada Summer Jobs applicants only, who must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with the Employment and Social Development Canada as outlined: between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support Reception at our Davis Centre as well as the Bridges Case Management summer program, coordinating trips and an Anger Management class outreach to justice-involved adults.
  • Welcome participants and visitors with warmth, respect, and professionalism
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and assist with appointments and food bank registration
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and hospitable reception area
  • Assist Bridges staff in planning and facilitating workshops for adults, off-site
  • Coordinate group activities for our Bridges adult program
  • Prepare materials and support participant engagement
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment
  • Support coordination of local outings (registrations, reminders, logistics)
  • Assist staff during trips with supervision and participant care
  • Help ensure a positive and safe experience for all participants
  • Provide basic clerical support (filing, photocopying, data entry)
  • Maintain attendance records, calendars, and program materials
  • Assist with general program organization and preparation
