About The Position

This is a grant-funded position supporting the Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) and potentially other Texas Technology Access Program (TTAP) grants. The role involves providing outreach, training, case management, and support services to STAP applicants, certifiers, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include technical assistance, promptly answering phone calls and emails, and potentially assisting with budget management, data collection, and reporting. The position also entails performing responsible research and administrative work, including preliminary planning and scheduling of research projects, assigning projects to staff, supervising staff progress, overseeing research facilities, and administering training programs. Additionally, the role will oversee inquiry and consulting services and may be responsible for certain administrative functions. Periodic travel within the State of Texas is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study
  • At least 6 years of experience conducting outreach activities.
  • Experience with providing professional development and training, including virtual training.
  • Experience working with assistive technology devices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Values the contributions of others in the work environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Class "C" operator's driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in a disability-related field with at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience with American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience with a variety of assistive technologies.
  • Experience developing accessible digital materials.
  • Experience designing and delivering professional development through synchronous and asynchronous online teaching using a formal learning management system.
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technologies, accessibility features in mainstream technologies.
  • Experience providing services and support to people with a variety of disabilities across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) Grant.
  • Train on access and usage of the STAP program.
  • Conduct outreach, vendor recruitment, and consumer technical assistance.
  • Assist with budget management, monthly data collection, and reporting to the grantor.
  • Support Texas Technology Access Program (TTAP) grant obligations through outreach events, social media activities, and other TTAP projects.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
