About The Position

Groupon is hiring a Social Media Specialist to lead organic social strategy for North America. This hands-on, AI-driven role sets channel direction while personally producing and testing content using generative tools. The position covers organic content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms, and works closely with the international social media team, the Creative Director, regional market leads, PR, performance marketing, and brand teams. The specialist will establish channel strategy, content pillars, publishing cadence, quarterly priorities, and a content roadmap aligned with campaigns, commercial moments, and platform trends. They will produce flagship content and AI-driven experiments, maintain consistent publishing, prototype scalable formats, and use performance insights to guide decisions. Success includes active, fresh channels; higher-volume AI-assisted production without sacrificing quality; measurable contribution to North American brand health; and effective coordination between North American and international social teams.

Requirements

  • Submit a portfolio link or PDF showing personally produced social content, including AI-generated work; candidates without a portfolio will not be assessed.
  • 2–4 years of experience in social media, including at least one year of strategic ownership of a brand channel beyond scheduling or community management.
  • Deep cultural fluency in how Gen Z audiences consume and create content on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, including formats, humor, aesthetic codes, and trends.
  • A demonstrable portfolio of AI-generated social content, such as AI video, imagery, audio/voice, or hybrid workflows.
  • Native or proficient English.
  • Deep platform fluency on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, including formats, algorithm behavior, and audience responses in international markets.
  • Ability to interpret content performance reports and recommend next steps.
  • Hands-on experience pulling, interpreting, and acting on social data through platform-native analytics or third-party tools.
  • Self-directed approach and ability to turn ambiguous briefs into plans.
  • Experience running social for a brand operating across multiple European markets.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort being on camera and willingness to record first-person content.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others, formally or informally.
  • Experience working across multiple markets or time zones.
  • A track record of adopting a platform or format early before it became mainstream.
  • Light motion design or visual storytelling skills.
  • Background in marketplaces, e-commerce, or local services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead organic social strategy across North America, including channel mix, content pillars, posting cadence, and platform-specific approaches.
  • Define channel standards and translate brand strategy into social-native ideas designed to perform on each platform.
  • Set quarterly priorities and maintain a content roadmap aligned with brand campaigns, commercial moments, and platform trends.
  • Personally produce flagship content and AI-driven experiments using generative tools.
  • Maintain a consistent weekly publishing cadence across priority channels, using AI-driven production to support volume while maintaining quality.
  • Prototype new formats and content concepts that can be scaled into repeatable production workflows.
  • Coordinate with the international Social Media Manager on creative standards, AI tooling, production workflows, and shared resources.
  • Work with the Creative Director on visual identity, campaign integration, and creative quality.
  • Coordinate with regional market leads, PR, performance marketing, and brand teams to align social with the wider company narrative.
  • Own and interpret organic social metrics, including views, reach, engagement quality, audience growth, and brand-relevant signals.
  • Run a regular test-and-learn cadence, promptly stopping underperforming work and expanding successful approaches.
  • Produce monthly performance readouts that go beyond vanity metrics.

Benefits

  • Compensation up to USD $70,000 per year plus a 10% target bonus.
