About The Position

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) is seeking a creative and dynamic Social Media Producer to generate engaging, social-first content focused on entertainment's biggest names and moments. This role requires a blend of creative vision and strategic thinking, involving video and social content creation. The producer will be responsible for capturing and transforming THR's unique access to events like red carpets, awards shows, film festivals, premieres, interviews, and cover shoots into compelling social media content. The ideal candidate possesses a strong creative eye, excellent editorial judgment, and the ability to interact professionally with high-profile individuals in the entertainment industry. This position involves hands-on content creation, including filming with an iPhone, capturing behind-the-scenes footage, editing video clips, adapting editorial content into social formats like Instagram carousels, writing engaging captions, and publishing content across various social platforms in real-time. Collaboration with THR's Studio, editorial, video, photo, and social teams is essential to shape the brand's presence on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, Threads, X, and emerging channels.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of experience creating social media and video content for an entertainment, media, publishing, or news brand.
  • Experienced and confident working around high-profile talent, publicists, and entertainment industry professionals in red carpet, premiere, festival, awards show, and live-event environments.
  • A social media native with a deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other major social platforms.
  • A strong writer and visual storyteller who can create sharp captions, headlines, and hooks, with an excellent eye for framing, composition, and memorable moments.
  • Comfortable shooting polished content on an iPhone, identifying the strongest social moment within an interview or event, and editing and publishing quickly in real time.
  • Calm, professional, and discreet in sensitive, fast-moving, and high-profile environments, with strong editorial judgment.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple platforms, deadlines, shoots, and deliverables while pivoting quickly as priorities change.
  • Deeply knowledgeable and passionate about entertainment, film, television, awards season, and pop culture.
  • Willing to travel for festivals, awards shows, and special productions as needed.

  • Experience producing red carpet, celebrity interview, and talent-driven social content.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; After Effects, CapCut, Photoshop, or Canva experience is a plus.
  • Experience creating high-performing short-form video, Instagram carousels, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Experience growing YouTube, YouTube Shorts, and other social audiences.
  • Familiarity with YouTube Studio, Instagram Insights, social analytics, and audience development.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong talent-driven social video, event coverage, BTS content, and creative social storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Concept, shoot, edit, and publish premium social-first content including Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, videos, carousels, and graphics.
  • Translate THR interviews, articles, exclusives, cover stories, and breaking entertainment news into engaging social storytelling.
  • Own social publishing and platform optimization across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, and X, creating strong captions, headlines, hooks, thumbnails, and platform-specific packaging.
  • Maintain a consistent publishing calendar.
  • Produce real-time coverage from red carpets, premieres, awards shows, film festivals, and major entertainment events, filming interviews with high-profile talent and quickly identifying and publishing compelling moments.
  • Capture exclusive behind-the-scenes content from THR cover shoots, photo and video shoots, roundtables, interviews, and special events, developing creative concepts for candid and personality-driven moments.
  • Travel as needed for major festivals and entertainment events (e.g., Cannes, TIFF, Sundance), creating and publishing planned and spontaneous social content.
  • Shoot and edit polished social video on fast turnarounds using iPhones and other production tools, with a strong understanding of lighting, audio, composition, and framing.
  • Edit content in Adobe Premiere Pro and other social editing platforms.
  • Help execute THR’s YouTube and YouTube Shorts strategy, identifying strong moments and optimizing content for discoverability, click-through rate, and watch time.
  • Use analytics and audience insights to inform creative decisions and audience growth.
  • Support sponsored campaigns, branded entertainment, custom activations, and social coverage around client events.
