About The Position

The Social Media & Marketing Specialist will support the organization’s marketing and communication efforts by assisting with social media management, content creation, event promotion, and community engagement. This is a part-time position, up to 28 hours per week, with a hiring range of $19.65 - $21.62/hour. The role is essential work serving the community and offers a career with purpose in a dynamic team environment.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Advertising, Journalism, Business Administration, Media Studies or Hospitality and Event Management, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Create and schedule social media content, draft captions and promotional messaging, monitor engagement and respond to comments or messages as directed, research current social media trends, and track basic analytics to help evaluate performance.
• Capture photos and videos at programs, events, and activities to support marketing and community outreach efforts, while collaborating with staff to develop engaging content that promotes Parks & Recreation programs and events.
• Create graphics, flyers, and promotional materials using Canva or similar design tools while supporting marketing campaigns, promotional projects, and consistent department branding.
• Assist with updating website content and event calendars, preparing newsletters and other promotional communications, and supporting department marketing needs.
