About The Position

This role involves extensive travel to coffee-producing and agricultural communities in Latin America, acting as the direct representative of Mayorga. The primary focus is on documenting the realities of producers through authentic, unedited video content, including interviews and field walk-throughs. The position requires translating complex agricultural concepts into relatable stories for a U.S. consumer audience and providing raw footage and briefs to an in-house editor. The ideal candidate will have a background in agriculture or related fields, cultural fluency in Latin America, and the ability to operate independently in challenging field conditions with minimal equipment.

Requirements

  • Background or deep education in Agronomy, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Science, international development (NGOs), or rural fieldwork.
  • Deep understanding of and respect for Latin American agricultural communities.
  • Ability to operate independently with an iPhone and microphone to interview producers in challenging field conditions, capturing audio and video.
  • Must be physically based in Latin America.
  • Ability to travel extensively to major coffee-producing regions.
  • Full professional fluency in both Spanish and English is mandatory.
  • Ability to interview producers using conversational and regional Spanish and write clear notes in English.
  • Ability to perform essential field duties, including navigating steep and uneven terrain, carrying basic field gear, and working in varying altitudes and tropical climates.
  • Must submit a 30- to 60-second video in English explaining background in agriculture, fieldwork, or coffee and interest in travel and sharing producer stories.

Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively to remote coffee-producing and agricultural communities across Latin America (including El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Colombia, and beyond).
  • Act as the direct face and voice of Mayorga at origin, sitting down with producers to understand their challenges and reinforce direct-trade partnerships.
  • Capture daily realities, struggles, and triumphs of producers using authentic, unedited selfie-style videos, farmer interviews, and field walk-throughs on a mobile device.
  • Translate complex agricultural realities into simple, powerful storytelling for U.S. consumers.
  • Deliver raw footage and a well-crafted brief to an in-house editor.
