Social Media Coordinator

UnboundKansas City, KS

About The Position

We’re looking for a Social Media Coordinator to own the day-to-day of Unbound’s social presence and help shape its next direction. You’ll be the person who turns our mission into content people stop scrolling for: honest, dignified stories told across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube, with a strategy that pulls in the same direction as the rest of the brand. At its heart, this is a storytelling role: weaving the words, images, and video of real lives into narratives that build trust, inspire generosity, and move people to act. This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll plan the calendar, create and publish content, engage our community, follow the analytics, and bring ideas to the table by working closely with teammates across marketing, programs, and communications.

Requirements

  • You have 2+ years of hands-on social media experience at a brand, nonprofit, or agency, or equivalent.
  • You genuinely know the platforms: how they work, who’s on them, and what good looks like on each.
  • You’re a strong storyteller. A clear writer with an eye for detail and a feel for tone, who knows how to weave words, images, and video into a narrative that moves people.
  • You’re organized and deadline-driven, comfortable juggling several projects without dropping threads.
  • You can read analytics and explain what they mean to people who can’t.
  • You keep the audience at the center. Curious about who you’re reaching, what they respond to, and how to earn their trust.
  • You bring an entrepreneurial streak. You try things, suggest alternatives, and solve problems rather than wait to be told.
  • You’re at ease presenting to a group, large or small.
  • You care about this kind of work: telling stories about real people with dignity and respect.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, new media, or a related field.
  • Experience with social management and scheduling tools, and comfort in the Adobe and Microsoft environments.
  • Hands-on video editing skills and a portfolio of short-form social content you’ve made.
  • Experience with paid social campaigns and working alongside performance marketing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, or another relevant language.
  • Familiarity with the nonprofit or NGO space.

Responsibilities

  • Run the day-to-day across all of Unbound’s social platforms. Planning, producing, scheduling, and publishing, with short-form video (Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts) as a core part of the mix.
  • Own the master social calendar and coordinate the internal teams who want a moment on it.
  • Engage our community, responding to comments, questions, and messages with warmth and care, and looping in the right colleagues when needed.
  • Source and shape authentic stories, drawing on field photography and video, the voices of sponsors and families, and user-generated content. And build relationships with creators and partners who can carry Unbound’s story to new audiences.
  • Listen as well as post, tracking online conversation to surface what audiences care about, and flagging reputational risks early so they can be addressed before they escalate.
  • Help shape Unbound’s social strategy by generating content ideas, identifying gaps, and recommending where to experiment.
  • Set goals and track performance against them. Connecting engagement to the outcomes that matter (trust, generosity, and action) and turning the numbers into plain-language insights and recommendations.
  • Keep an eye on platform changes, trends, and new tools, and flag what’s worth our time.
  • Partner closely with paid social. Keeping organic content relationship-first while making sure organic and paid work as one coordinated system.
  • Develop and maintain Unbound’s social media guidelines and best practices.
  • Pitch in on copywriting, campaigns, and the occasional event, the usual rhythm of a collaborative marketing team.
