Social Media Content Proofreader (Volunteer/Remote)
About The Position
This is an unpaid volunteer position for individuals seeking flexible hours and an opportunity to gain valuable work experience while supporting ARO's mission of helping victims of abuse. The role involves editing and revising social media content, including articles and other publications, to ensure it meets ARO's requirements for style, tone, length, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Volunteers will use Asana for task review, Slack for communication, and Canva for graphic review. The position also requires attending monthly company meetings and performing other related duties as assigned. ARO is currently only hiring female identifying volunteers due to a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) policy, with plans to expand opportunities in the future. The organization champions 28 areas of abuse and offers various support services and training.
Requirements
- Must be available to volunteer 8-10 hours a week.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Demonstrated experience working well with others.
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional manner and appearance.
- Ability to anticipate and critically think through problems.
- Seeking a longer-term volunteer opportunity (12+ months preferred).
Responsibilities
- Assist with editing and revising content, articles, and other publications for the social media team.
- Utilize Asana to review tasks.
- Utilize Slack to respond to messages.
- Review graphics in Canva to ensure all ARO requirements are met.
- Edit content according to specifications for style, tone, and length.
- Ensure correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ensure social media content meets style, formatting, and general quality standards.
- Attend the monthly company meeting.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Actively engage with the organization's social media platforms by liking, sharing, or commenting on posts.
