About The Position

23andMe is seeking an innovative Social Media Content Creator (Contract) to join their Brand Marketing team. This role is at the intersection of genetics and digital storytelling, responsible for translating DNA science and genetics stories into engaging content for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, and Facebook. The ideal candidate is creative, capable of filming and editing content regularly, and brimming with ideas. This position will collaborate closely with the Head of Social Media and Head of Brand Marketing to execute content strategy.

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years of professional experience in social media production or digital marketing, preferably for a science, health, or tech brand.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop) and/or native platform editors (CapCut, TikTok, Canva, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Claude Design.
  • Ability to use reporting tools to analyze content performance and optimize creative accordingly.
  • Proficiency with both smartphone and DSLR camera required.
  • Understanding of the nuances between platforms and which content performs the best on which platforms.
  • Strong editorial skills with the ability to write catchy captions and clear, concise educational scripts.
  • Experience using project management tools (Jira) and social scheduling software (Sprout Social).

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit high-quality video and photo content tailored for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, and Facebook.
  • Act as the team’s "ear to the ground" for internet culture, identifying viral trends and algorithm shifts that 23andMe can authentically join.
  • Partner with the broader Brand Marketing and Science teams to support major product launches, heritage months, and brand initiatives.
  • Develop audience-driven content series that spark conversation and deepen our followers' understanding of their own genetic stories.
