About The Position

The Social Media + Communications Coordinator supports the day-to-day execution of Laurel School’s marketing and communications efforts, with primary responsibility for social media publishing and communications operations. This role plays a critical coordination and execution function within the Marketing & Communications team ensuring that content is shared consistently, communications are accurate and timely, and projects move forward smoothly. This position is ideal for an early-career communications professional who is highly organized, digitally fluent, and excited by storytelling, social media platforms, and working in a dynamic school environment. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, Creative Director, Content & PR Manager, and Website & SEO Manager to support the school’s brand, voice, and engagement goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience working in marketing, communications or related field.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Comfort using Google Workspace, social media platforms (including scheduling software), and digital collaboration tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within a collaborative team.
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with email platforms, CMS tools, or project management systems.
  • Interest in education, storytelling, and mission-driven work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of Laurel School’s social media presence across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others as appropriate).
  • Schedule and publish posts using established content calendars and brand guidelines.
  • Monitor engagement, comments, and messages and route items as appropriate.
  • Capture and curate photos and short-form video content from campus events and daily school life.
  • Assist with creating and editing reels and other short-form video using templates and basic editing tools.
  • Track basic social media analytics and trends and share insights with the team.
  • Assist with formatting, proofreading, and scheduling internal and external communications, including newsletters, announcements, and event communications.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of mass email communications using established platforms and templates.
  • Manage the marketing request intake process and help track timelines and deliverables.
  • Triage the general communications inbox (e.g., info@) and route inquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain shared communications calendars and content schedules.
  • Create and revise simple graphics using established templates and brand guidelines (Canva, InDesign, or similar tools).
  • Resize and format assets for use across digital platforms.
  • Support the Creative Director with production tasks, asset preparation, and organization.
  • Maintain organized digital libraries for photos, videos, and design assets.
  • Upload content to the website and assist with basic page updates under the direction of the Website & SEO Manager.
  • Support form setup, content posting, and basic analytics reporting as requested.
  • Assist Website & SEO Manager with troubleshooting (no coding or technical experience necessary).
  • Support project coordination by tracking timelines, deadlines, and deliverables for MarCom initiatives.
  • Assist with RSVP tracking, mailing list preparation, and logistics for marketing-led events and campaigns.
  • Support Marketing & Communications Team needs as needed (office supply ordering, product research, and the like).
