About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is seeking a Social Media and Content Manager for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News. This role involves developing and implementing social media content strategies, creating and publishing engaging content across various platforms, and collaborating with internal teams to promote programming and initiatives. The position also requires adapting and translating content between English and a target language, contributing to program production, and meeting organizational standards for productivity and quality. The candidate will work with VOA's digital asset management system and may perform other related duties. All personal service contractors must pass a thorough background check.

Requirements

• Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned.

• Ability to version content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned.
• Experience in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned.
• Experience contributing to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned.
• Experience editing and approving copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories.
• Experience contributing finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material and static and motion graphics, as assigned.
• Experience contributing to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed.
• Experience meeting VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines.
• Experience making suggestions about policy and workflow improvements.
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
• Experience with VOA’s digital asset management system, including logging and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage social media content strategies aligned with broadcasting and organizational goals.
• Create, edit, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging digital channels.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, reporters, and communications teams to promote broadcast programming, special events, and organizational initiatives.
• Manage social media calendars and ensure timely delivery of content to support news, programming, and audience engagement objectives.
• Monitor social media trends, audience interests, and platform developments to identify opportunities for increased reach and engagement.
• Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned.
• Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned.
• Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned.
