About The Position

The Social Hour Attendant (flex role) contributes to the overall success of the hotel by delivering exceptional guest service while supporting both bar operations and social hour service. This flexible role ensures a seamless guest experience by preparing and serving beverages and food, maintaining quality standards, and creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere aligned with Coast Hotels’ brand.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol
  • Valid Serving It Right (or equivalent) certification
  • FOODSAFE certification required (or obtained within 30 days)
  • TIPS certification within 30 days of hire if applicable
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of food safety, alcohol service standards, and health regulations
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of bartending or food & beverage service experience preferred
  • WHMIS training considered an asset
  • Previous POS (e.g., Squirrel) experience an asset
  • Cash handling experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Coast Ambassador by greeting guests, creating a welcoming environment, and engaging with guests during bar service and social hour.
  • Provide knowledgeable food and beverage service, including taking orders, making recommendations, and promoting specials.
  • Deliver food and beverages to guests during social hour with a high level of service and professionalism.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests or concerns.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with company standards and responsible service regulations.
  • Pour drinks to industry standards and tap kegs as required.
  • Prepare and serve food items in accordance with food safety guidelines.
  • Ensure all guests meet legal drinking age requirements and follow all alcohol service regulations.
  • Process cash, credit, debit, and room charge transactions in accordance with hotel policies.
  • Balance cash and reconcile bar transactions at the end of shifts as required.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels for bar and social hour service, including ordering supplies as needed.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, ensuring all areas are clean, organized, and ready for service.
  • Assist with inventory control and product rotation.
  • Follow all Coast Hotels standards, local regulations, and health & safety requirements (including food safety and alcohol service compliance).
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and ambassadors.
  • Adhere to WHMIS and workplace safety standards.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration with team members across departments.
  • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and compliance with scheduling expectations.
