About The Position

The Strategist is looking for a social editor to manage its social accounts across various platforms. This role involves developing ideas, creating written and video content, and representing the brand in a fresh, culturally aware manner. The Social Editor will act as the 'host' of The Strategist on Instagram, guiding readers through the shopping landscape. Responsibilities include writing captions, filming and editing green-screen content for TikTok, ideating social-only rubrics with writers, and asking talent questions for social video.

Requirements

  • A shopping obsessive with a deep passion for service journalism – you’re a compulsive noticer with an eagle eye for detail
  • Chronically online with a finger on the pulse of trends, influencers, and relevant voices in the shopping space
  • Strong, engaging on-camera presence and writing voice
  • Prior experience growing an audience
  • Experience making and editing social content across multiple platforms
  • Flexible, fast, and collaborative — equally comfortable ideating and executing
  • Strong understanding of the Strategist sensibility, tone, and audience
  • Strong understanding of analytics and social media trends across platforms
  • Confidence in generating ideas
  • Experience writing engaging headlines and teasers
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Figma or other design platforms.
  • 2-3 years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Senior Editor on social and audience needs across social platforms.
  • Create content and post across social platforms.
  • Develop, film, and edit quick-turn videos and recurring franchises across TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.
  • Serve as an on-camera 'host' for The Strategist and public-facing voice for the brand’s social storytelling.
  • Track shopping trends, pitch creative concepts, and help evolve our tone and social identity.
  • Write and produce smart, engaging copy and visuals that reflect The Strategist’s distinctive tone and perspective.
  • Collaborate with editorial, art, and social teams on rollout plans for major packages, covers, and sales events.
  • Identify and track emerging trends, memes, and conversations across the shopping space.
  • Help build and refine strategies to grow engagement and reach across new and existing platforms.
  • Be proactive in pitching ideas, testing formats, and finding new ways to make The Strategist’s stories travel.
