Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Two (2) years related experience working with youth.
  • Two (2) years in a supervisor experience.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
  • Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Master’s degree.
  • Previous Job Corps experience in a social development/management capacity

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the social development department to ensure a quality program of student service delivery.
  • Assist the Center Director in the preparation of departmental budget; monitor, control expenditures. Review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies, procedures, and systems affecting social development and training programs. Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives.
  • Provide staff training, evaluate the performance of subordinates through observation and recommend department and personnel changes to the Center Director and coordinate with the Human Resources Manager prior to implementation.
  • Assist in and evaluate employee participation in Personal Career Development Plans (PCDP), center discipline, and incentive programs.
  • Provide oversight of the residential function to ensure compliance with Data Integrity policies and procedures. Monthly audit residential files and CIS case notes to ensure adherence with DOL and corporate policies.
  • Establish and maintain an effective dormitory inspection program; ensure that facility maintenance is done when needed.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff in dealing with behavior of students, and resolving individual and group situations.
  • Ensure a system of staff scheduling, documentation, and maintenance of records.
  • Ensure student government association (SGA) operates in compliance with Job Corps policy and for the welfare of all students.
  • Coordinate the Center’s leadership program and ensure leaders are trained and supervised.
  • Assist in organizing awards and graduation ceremonies and other Center events.
  • Review, report and process accident/injury reports for staff and student job related injuries. Identify unsafe practices and develop corrective measures to minimize risk and lost time accidents in accordance with corporate, government and Job Corps regulations.
  • Ensure an emphasis on employability skills in all aspects of social development and training.
  • Through recreation supervisor, ensure a quality recreation program that incorporates both indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Oversee an effective system of delivering and integrating Social Skills program.
  • Provide management direction to ensure an effective leadership program.
  • Serve as the Student Government Association (SGA) advisor and coordinate all SGA activities including executive council meetings, SGA committees, etc.
  • Assist management in involving SGA in the overall center program by maintaining communication with management and the student body, scheduling and overseeing meetings.
  • Coordinate SGA participation in community service activities and coordinate activities with the business community liaison and other departments regarding activities and attendees.
  • Assist SGA and student leaders in developing and implement service learning projects.
  • Serve as staff advisor for The SGA Entertainment Committee. Ensure ongoing activities and events are secure and safe for students.
  • Develop proposals for Student Government Expenditures submitting to Finance for approval.
  • Ensure Student Government Money is appropriately used following DOL, PRH and Corporate requirements.
  • Maintains positive and effective relations with students. Provides guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in the dormitory living situation and to accomplish their goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property. Adhere to standard safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain a Center climate which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students in which to work and learn.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Having the ability to work under pressure as well as ensuring timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • The proper use of tools and/or equipment commonly used in an office/clerical environment.
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and company directives.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
  • Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
