Social & Content Manager

MERGEChicago, IL
$60,150 - $88,250Hybrid

About The Position

MERGE is seeking a Social & Content Manager who is culture-fluent and will own the brand's voice across social media platforms, primarily LinkedIn and Instagram. This role involves developing strategy, managing content calendars, fostering community, and creating engaging content that translates agency news, client wins, and thought leadership into compelling posts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, resourceful, and possesses the ability to build a robust social media system, including a social plan and templates for efficient content creation. They will be responsible for establishing and protecting the brand's voice, ensuring MERGE's social presence is distinctly human and authentic.

Requirements

  • 5+ years managing corporate or agency social media, ideally B2B — with a portfolio of content and communities you’ve grown.
  • A culture-forward point of view: you’re genuinely online, fluent in platform-native formats, and you have the taste to know what good looks like on LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Strong B2B and social forward copywriting — you write conversationally, adapt tone by audience, and keep the brand voice human, sharp, and never templated.
  • Hands-on fluency with Adobe for building and editing social assets, plus scheduling and social-management tools.
  • Fluent with AI and LLM tools as a creative accelerant — you use them to move faster and sharper, with the judgment to keep the output authentically human and on-brand.
  • A scrappy, autonomous owner: self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable running the show end to end while juggling multiple priorities.
  • A data-informed approach: comfortable with analytics and turning performance into better content.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Community and advocacy instincts — prior experience running an advocacy program or managing a brand community is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the social strategy: Set the strategic direction and end-to-end execution for MERGE’s corporate social — primarily LinkedIn and Instagram — building the plan that elevates our brand position across our core themes and audiences.
  • Build the system: Develop the content calendar, templates, and repeatable formats that let a lean team ship consistently — mapped to agency priorities, client announcements, major events, and thought leadership.
  • Be the brand’s voice: Own a cohesive, distinctly human social voice — writing captions and content that feel authored, never automated, and never generic. You use modern tools to move faster, but the work always sounds like a person, and always like MERGE.
  • Create and publish platform-native content day to day — writing, designing, and editing in-platform — with the taste to know what earns a save, a share, or a comment versus what scrolls by.
  • Partner on the big swings: Work with our creative and design teams on higher-production initiatives — video, campaigns, brand moments — knowing when to move solo and when a moment deserves the full team.
  • Live in the culture: Track trends, formats, and cultural moments, and put a MERGE spin on the ones worth joining — keeping us current, credible, and part of the conversation.
  • Manage the community: Be the human voice behind the brand — engaging followers, monitoring conversations, and cultivating the interactions that build a real audience over time.
  • Grow employee advocacy: Lead and grow MERGE’s Employee Advocacy Program — equipping our people with shareable assets and coaching them to amplify our story in their own voices.
  • Partner across the agency: Work with practice areas, ERGs, and PR to align social with company strategy, and to surface the stories, spotlights, and cultural moments worth telling.
  • Own the tools & vendors: Serve as the point of contact for social platforms, scheduling tools, and vendors — managing renewals, adopting new features, and keeping our stack sharp.
  • Prove what works: Track performance across channels, report to leadership in plain terms, and use the data to continuously refine what we make and how we show up.
