The Soccer Referee works under the supervision of the Sports Manager and Sports Assistant. The Soccer Referee provides general supervision and support for the soccer participants. This role requires attendance at a referee clinic, learning the rules of soccer and Moab City Recreation league rules, and arriving 10 minutes prior to scheduled game time, dressed and ready to start the game. Referees are responsible for starting all games on time, being prepared to referee, and wearing appropriate attire including comfortable running/athletic sneakers or cleats, appropriate shorts, sweatpants, and/or hat, and the provided referee shirt. Referees must bring their own whistle, and have a pencil and paper, yellow and red penalty cards in their pocket. They are responsible for establishing contact with coaches and players, being consistent, fair, and firm in calls made, and accurately recording all scores and reporting results to the Recreation Coordinator at the end of the day. The referee may use calls as a teaching opportunity if appropriate.
