About The Position
The Soccer Referee works under the supervision of the Sports Manager and Sports Assistant. This role provides general supervision and support for soccer participants during the fall season, which runs from mid-August through mid-October on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The referee is responsible for learning and enforcing the rules of soccer and Moab City Recreation league rules, ensuring games start on time, and maintaining fair play.
Requirements
- Wears comfortable running/athletic sneakers or cleats
- Wears appropriate shorts, sweatpants, and/or hat
- Brings own whistle
- Has a pencil and paper, yellow and red penalty cards in pocket
Responsibilities
- Attend referee clinic
- Learn the rules of soccer and Moab City Recreation league rules
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to scheduled game time, dressed and ready to start game
- Start all games on time
- Come prepared to referee
- Wear comfortable running/athletic sneakers or cleats
- Wear appropriate shorts, sweatpants, and/or hat
- Wear referee shirt (provided by Moab City)
- Bring own whistle
- Have a pencil and paper, yellow and red penalty cards in pocket
- Establish contact with coaches and players
- Be consistent, fair and firm in calls made
- Record all scores accurately and report results to Recreation Coordinator at end of the day
- Use referee call as teaching opportunity if appropriate
