About The Position

This is a coaching position for Girls Junior Varsity Soccer at a high school in Loudoun County. The season runs from February to May. The coach will be responsible for directing and supervising the team's training, conditioning, and performance, as well as assisting with the overall athletic program and fostering positive values among participants and spectators.

Requirements

Coaching experience or participation in the sport at the high school or college level.
Completion of CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in a current CPR and First Aid training course.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
A Virginia Teaching License candidate or a full-time classified employee for Loudoun County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

Maintain high academic standards for all student athletes.
Assist the athletic director and principal in the hiring and/or retention of assistant coaches.
Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all assistant coaches.
Work cooperatively with the athletic director to assure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
Work cooperatively with other head athletic coaches to ensure a well-balanced athletic program.
Foster an appreciation for the values of athletics, a desire to win, good sportsmanship, and pride in self, team, school, and community.
Direct the training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity athletic team and lead, supervise, and assist assistant coaches.
Act as a positive influence on the behavior of athletic staff and teams.
Be present and personally direct the team at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshmen contests as possible.
Supervise athletes at invitational meets or postseason competition.
Advise the athletic director on the preparation of schedules for the sport.
Advise the athletic director in the selection and performance evaluations of officials.
Recommend equipment and supplies needed for the sports program to the athletic director.
Provide for the inventory and care of equipment.
Advise the athletic director of the condition of athletic facilities and needs for their preparation and maintenance.
Assist the athletic director to ensure lists of eligible players are prepared and maintained according to VHSL rules.
Recommend removal of athletes from teams to the athletic director and/or principal when training or eligibility regulations are not met.
Ensure all athletes have passed medical examinations before the regular practice season begins.
Organize a system for encouraging students to try out for the team and develop and recruit support staff (equipment managers, score keepers, statisticians, ball runners, etc.).
Collect and maintain records, statistics, news items, and photographs for the athletic teams.
Recommend students who qualify for a varsity letter or junior varsity/freshman certificate to the athletic director.
Recommend prospective coaches to the athletic director upon request.
Observe sub-varsity practices and games.
Perform other duties related to the position of head athletic coach as requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director.
