About The Position

Calvary Christian Academy, a ministry of Calvary Chapel, is a community of Christian believers that seeks to make disciples of Jesus Christ through a biblical school environment and prepare students to glorify God spiritually, academically, and socially. The Coach assists and trains students and prepares them to perform in the capacity for which they are being trained. The role calls for shepherding students by example, serving willingly, and reflecting the Academy’s Christian beliefs and values.

Requirements

• Strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
• Strong commitment to the philosophies and Statement of Faith of Calvary Chapel.
• Previous coaching experience in the desired sport.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good working relationship with children, parents, and staff.
• Ability to control emotions and remain slow to anger.
• Ability to remain calm and organized during busy schedules.
• Spiritual maturity.
• Ability to counsel, comfort, and support students.
• Ability to maintain order and structure in a large group of children.
• Gifts of leadership, organization, and service.
• Willingness to submit to authority.
• Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
• Genuine love for student-athletes and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Disciple young men and women, demonstrate a commitment to excellence, and display character at all times.
• Execute the plan designed by the Sports Director or Head Coach.
• Attend coaches’ meetings.
• Be accountable for personal growth as well as church, outreach, and family.
• Continue education and mastery of the game, including schemes and techniques.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down the field, weight room, and locker room.
• Serve as a counseling resource for players.
