Server SoC System Architect

QualcommAustin, TX
$167,100 - $250,700

About The Position

We are seeking experienced SoC Architects to join our team. If you possess an understanding of SoC hardware architecture and have a passion for architecting and designing complex System on Chips (SoCs) at advanced process nodes, we would be pleased to hear from you. This critical role involves architecting the next-generation system and hardware infrastructure by collaborating with other platform architects to enable debug, telemetry, and manageability features while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The work performed will lead to lower time to resolve issues and improve data center uptime by providing secure solutions that can be used in environments closer to, if not in, the production environments where the issues occur. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of SoC architecture for datacenter SoCs, HW/SW/System requirements for debug, telemetry, and manageability technologies. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for excelling in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Over 5 years of experience in designing hardware for data center environments.
  • At least 2 years of experience in architecting and developing technologies for data center products.
  • Proficiency in boot, reset, recovery, debug, telemetry, and server manageability concepts.
  • Experience in participating in industry forums and developing specifications (e.g., OCP)
  • Strong technical documentation skills along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Master's in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years in hardware design for data centers.
  • Strong knowledge of data center architectures from edge computing to hyperscale.
  • Knowledge of the data center product life cycle (including quarantined and out for repair states) and the different use cases and requirements associated with these different life cycle states.
  • Experience with debug, telemetry, and RAS protocols (e.g., MIPI STP, DMTF PLDM).
  • Familiarity with security technologies for a data center SoC related to secure debug, attestation, HW & SW supply chain provenance, and access control/isolation primitives.
  • Familiarity with designing debug, telemetry, and RAS infrastructures for confidential computing.
  • Proven track record in hyperscale data center solutions.
  • Participation (or leadership) in standards bodies or forums like OCP.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the SoC and system level architecture for data center products focused on debug, telemetry, RAS, and server manageability capabilities including crash dumping, error injection, invasive debug mechanisms, debugger authentication and elevation of privileges, and secure sessions.
  • Prepare and present clear and comprehensive technical documentation and reports tailored to the needs of stakeholders, including engineering teams, senior management and customers.
  • Participate in relevant standards organizations and monitor debug, telemetry, RAS and manageability trends and emerging related technologies. Ensure that the SoC infrastructure complies with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Benefits

  • competitive annual discretionary bonus program
  • opportunity for annual RSU grants
  • highly competitive benefits package
