About The Position

Axxys is hiring a SOC Analyst to monitor and protect small and medium-sized business clients across North Texas. The analyst will investigate security alerts, serve as a security resource for the technical team, and help improve monitoring and incident response across the client base. The role offers ownership over security monitoring, tuning, and response processes, with opportunities to automate repetitive work and contribute ideas for improving operations.

The work is split between the office, remote work, and visits to client sites around North Texas. Axxys will work with the analyst to create a professional growth plan that may include security certifications; certifications are not required to apply. The analyst will also stay current on threats through partner training, industry groups, and the security community.

Requirements

• An associate’s degree, or 1–2 years of related experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.
• A curious, problem-solving mindset and willingness to investigate issues to find the underlying answer.
• Ability to explain security issues to business owners in clear, nontechnical language.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts daily, investigate them, and quickly escalate incidents to the appropriate people.
• Tune security controls and thresholds to improve alert quality and strengthen client security.
• Build and document processes for using security tools, and train the rest of the team to use them effectively.
• Identify processes to automate, including patching, deployments, scripting, and reporting.
• Visit client sites when hands-on work is needed.
• Stay current on new threats through partner training, industry groups, and the security community.
