About The Position

Axxys protects small and medium-sized businesses across North Texas that do not have their own security teams. The SOC Analyst monitors client security, serves as a security resource for the technical team, and helps improve security across the client base. The role offers variety, with work split between the office, remote work, and visits to client sites. The analyst has ownership of monitoring, tuning, and incident response processes, with opportunities to improve workflows and automate repetitive tasks. Axxys will work with the employee to create a certification path as part of a professional growth plan; certifications are not required to apply.

Requirements

• An associate’s degree, or 1–2 years of related experience or training, or a combination of these.
• A curious, problem-solving mindset and willingness to investigate until finding the underlying answer.
• Ability to explain security issues to business owners without excessive jargon.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts daily, investigate potential threats, and quickly escalate incidents to the appropriate people.
• Tune security controls and alert thresholds to improve the relevance of alerts and strengthen client security.
• Build and document how security tools are used, and teach the rest of the team to use them effectively.
• Identify processes to automate, including patching, deployments, scripting, and reporting.
• Visit client sites when hands-on work is needed.
• Stay current on threats through partner training, industry groups, and the security community.
