About The Position

The Snowcat Operator is responsible for grooming and maintaining ski and snowboard trails to ensure optimal surface conditions and a safe, enjoyable guest experience. This role involves operating snowcats and other grooming equipment, performing routine maintenance checks, and working closely with the mountain operations team to prepare terrain according to daily and seasonal plans. Operators often work in varying weather and low-visibility conditions, requiring strong technical skills and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Previous Snowcat or heavy equipment experience.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s License and complete an MVR check to company standards.
  • Minimum age 18 years old to drive company vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple types of snowcat machines to groom all ski slopes and snow surfaces to the highest level possible.
  • Perform major grooming tasks such as blading, tilling, patching, dozing and slope reconstruction.
  • Use implements to cut down bumps, flatten and level runs for a consistent riding surface.
  • Fill in ruts, holes, turn around marks and snow surface irregularities.
  • Understand the use, operation and maintenance of heavy equipment used for snow / slope grooming.
  • Responsible for pre-operation inspections, adding fluids and fueling of grooming equipment.
  • Learn and maintain a general knowledge of the ski trails, mountain infrastructure and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers via a 2-way radio.
  • Understand shop procedures and communicate mechanical problems or maintenance needs with shop mechanics.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments to maintain good working relationships.
  • Receive daily duties and instruction from department Managers, Supervisor or Leads.
  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.
  • Support Eldora’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.
