About The Position

The Slopestyle Big Air Pro Team Head Coach is responsible for the technical coaching and leadership of the Slopestyle Big Air Pro Team. This individual is expected to be proficient and/or leading the world in technical coaching methods and is aligned with the staffing and leadership philosophies of the Big Air/Slopestyle program. This individual will be responsible for leading daily team training sessions along with video review and planning during all camps and projects. The Pro Team Head Coach will be responsible for the planning of team training programs and the bir air & slopestyle training plans within the context of the overall training program. Requirements

  • Supports and promotes the vision, mission and core values of U.S. Ski & Snowboard in professional image, personal interactions, communications.
  • World-class knowledge and experience of snowboard coaching, athlete development.
  • Ability to accurately evaluate critical success factors necessary for long-term athletic success in snowboarding.
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity or leadership capacity – high-level club or national team experience, with proven ability to prepare and execute a successful athletic plan for snowboarders at the World Cup and Olympic level.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for world-class achievement in snowboarding
  • Successful leader of, and thorough communicator with co-workers, athletes and parents, and club leaders.
  • Team-oriented player who will work well in a team and stakeholder environment by collaborating with fellow staff, club leaders and coaches, parents and athletes, and demonstrates loyalty to the program and organization.
  • Can successfully create a budget and work within it.
  • Must have a valid passport with the ability to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Must have a valid driver license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Docs and Sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Display proficiency and/or leadership in the world in technical coaching methods
  • Responsible for leading daily team training sessions along with video review and planning during all camps and projects.
  • Develop the fundamental skills and competencies required of each team athlete to compete successfully in Olympic and World championship Big Air & Slopestyle competitions.
  • Prepare a detailed preparation plan for each athlete, orchestrating conditioning programs, technique analysis, mental preparation, equipment preparation, in the context of the overall training program.
  • Participate in the national coaches’ education system by sharing insights and information from their knowledge base. This will be done by periodically submitting reports and articles for US Ski and Snowboard education publications.
  • Participate as needed in US Ski and Snowboard education clinics.
  • Participate in continuing education about the sport at a high level by studying team training plans, systems of monitoring and peaking, staff management at camps and competitions, attending seminars and planning meetings when available, and establishing a professional relationship with coaches from foreign national teams.
  • Maintain and enhance the image of the U.S. Ski Team at all times.
  • Assist in coordination with USFST Strength and Conditioning coach to ensure training programs are carried through.
  • Assist in coordination with USFST Physical Therapist regarding athlete injuries and rehabilitation.
  • Coordinate with PR Department on media opportunities and education for Big Air & Slopestyle Team.
  • Adhere to essential business directives as set forth by the organization.
  • Timely, accurate and ethical expense reporting, accurate budget planning, staying within the budget allocated for specific projects, and exercising foresight regarding changes of plans, contingencies, etc.
  • Work with team management to plan and execute an agreed upon budget that focuses resources exclusively on the execution of the athletic plan.
  • Ensure that operational plans are compatible with budget plans.
  • Supervise assistant and rookie coaches
