About The Position

Reporting to the Production Manager, the SMT Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT equipment to ensure high-quality electronic assemblies. The role involves visual inspection, rework, and adherence to manufacturing standards. The operator collaborates closely with the Lead Hand and other team members to support efficient production and continuous improvement. Work Schedule: Afternoon shift, Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, with preference of a relevant Technical Diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years’ previous experience as a SMT operator
  • Ability to read and understand Bills of Material (BOM) and manufacturing process instruction.
  • In-depth knowledge of SMT component packages, types, and industry-standard markings for effective component selection and placement.
  • Strong familiarity with IPC-610 standards for acceptability of electronic assemblies, including soldering, component placement, and quality criteria.
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data tracking, reporting, and documentation tasks.
  • Solid understanding and ability to apply Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Handle products safely in an ESD-controlled electronics environment.
  • Read and accurately follow operational instructions and work orders.
  • Set up and operate SMT production equipment effectively.
  • Perform daily/weekly preventive maintenance on SMT equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections on SMT PCBAs for quality assurance.
  • Ensure quality products are delivered to downstream operations.
  • Document routines/procedures and report issues to Lead Hand.
  • Rework SMT boards with defects from post-oven inspection.
  • Complete assigned tasks and assist other SMT operators as needed.
