About The Position

Perform state smog inspections and maintain fleet. This role involves performing state-regulated smog inspections and repairs, as well as skilled repair and maintenance on a variety of gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles. Responsibilities include disassembling components, inspecting parts for wear, repairing and overhauling various systems (water and fuel pumps, air conditioning, radiators), rewiring electrical systems, replacing and adjusting brakes and suspension, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions, overhauling gasoline and diesel engines, tuning and repairing diesel engines, and repairing hydraulic systems. The technician will also perform routine preventative maintenance inspections, check and replace fluids, and replace exhaust system components. Additionally, the role may require temporarily covering at another shop in the zone for sick leaves, holidays, or vacations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Vocational/Technical training in automotive repair with 5 years of automotive repair experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License
  • Must have valid ASE A5 Certification
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Master Automotive Technician and/or Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform state-regulated smog inspections and repairs
  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance on a variety of gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles such as replacing bearings, axle seals, brake master cylinders, resurfacing brake drums and rotors
  • Disassemble components and inspect part for wear
  • Repair, overhaul, replace and rebuild water and fuel pumps, air conditioning components, compressors, radiators, etc.
  • Rewire electrical systems
  • Replace, realign, and adjust brakes and suspension components
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions to all systems
  • Overhaul gasoline and diesel engines
  • Tune and perform repairs to diesel engines
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic systems; routes and replaces lies and checks system for leaks
  • Perform routine vehicle equipment preventative maintenance inspections; checking and replacing fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, and replaces exhaust system components
  • Temporarily covering at another shop in your zone at certain times per year (for sick leaves, holidays, vacations, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
