SME, Primary Engineering, Energy and Infrastructure Projects (Phoenix, AZ)
About The Position
Linxon, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Hitachi Energy, is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Primary Engineering for Energy and Infrastructure Projects in Phoenix, AZ. This role focuses on delivering high-performing EPC solutions for complex AC substation and electrification projects. The SME will be responsible for developing innovative Substation Layout Designs for voltages ranging from 765kV to 11kV, contributing to the modernization, resiliency, and sustainability of the power grid. This is an individual contributor position with a clear path for growth into leadership roles within 3-5 years, such as Lead Engineer or Primary Engineering Team Leader. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including Project Lead Engineers, BIM Engineers, Protection & Control Engineers, and Civil Engineers, to shape solutions for reliable energy access, renewable energy integration, and critical infrastructure strengthening.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with both outdoor and indoor GIS applications, including a solid understanding of the building infrastructure needed to support indoor GIS systems.
- Skilled in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and use these tools to produce accurate, high-quality design deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least five (5) years of experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least three (3) years of experience.
- Ideally hold or are working toward a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) certification.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-voltage designs that strengthen grid reliability and support clean-energy growth.
- Produce buildable layouts and specifications that reduce construction issues and keep procurement on track.
- Apply advanced engineering analysis to prevent failures and ensure long-term system performance.
- Lead design reviews and provide targeted site support to resolve issues early and avoid costly rework.
- Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and field teams to ensure seamless execution from design to energization.
- Build customer confidence by presenting clear, dependable technical solutions that enable successful project delivery.
