About The Position
Charter Manufacturing is seeking a Smart Manufacturing Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. This internship offers the opportunity to develop skills in project planning, cross-functional collaboration, and identifying innovative ways to apply AI to improve business and manufacturing processes. The program is structured as a full-time, 40 hours/week commitment during the summer, with work split between Saukville, WI & Mequon, WI. The internship is scheduled to begin in May 2027.
Requirements
- Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore level.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Ability to succeed in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities
- Help with the expansion of AI vision safety systems.
- Assist with engineering practices for our plant robot.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
- Assist and/or lead multiple Digital Transformation-related projects supporting the different facets of the business.
- Document and improve processes.
