About The Position

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. The work model for the role is onsite in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Please note that no relocation assistance or stipend will be offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location. Candidates are expected to manage their own commuting arrangements.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline at an accredited U.S. institution.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing & Mechanical Background
  • Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, or other parametric 3D solid modeling software preferred.
  • Experience with robotics systems, with ABB robotics experience strongly preferred.
  • Electrical Background: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering teams through hands-on project work focused on improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and production efficiency.
  • Design and develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and rubber molding devices for manufacturing applications (Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering students).
  • Assist with the design and development of electrical test equipment and apparatus used for production high-voltage testing (Electrical Engineering students).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements, troubleshoot technical challenges, and implement solutions.
  • Document designs, test results, and project outcomes while presenting findings to engineering and operations teams.
