This role provides data-driven facilities management insights to JLL clients’ facilities using (i)JLL’s Smart Building Platform (SBP), SkySpark by SkyFoundry, and (ii) additional JLL tools and platforms that support our Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) programs. This position is virtual. You’ll be expected to work to provide significant overlap with U.S. Eastern Time, actual work hours will be discussed. This role is to provide data-driven facilities management insights to JLL clients’ facilities using Smart Building Platform (SBP) and SkySpark. The candidate will coordinate resolution of recommended enhancements, improved control strategies, and other changes to drive towards the lowest total cost of ownership with facility maintenance teams and customers. The ideal candidate will have a combination of experience in energy analysis, facilities engineering systems, HVAC building systems, building automation systems, reliability centered maintenance, energy and sustainability, project management and advanced level skills in data analytics.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience will be evaluated.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex HVAC systems including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and VAV air handling units, with proven ability to interpret building system data, identify actionable insights, and generate recommendations that lead to measurable energy savings.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and energy principles and concepts, particularly related to the built environment, including experience performing building energy analysis, equipment-level savings calculations, and ROI analysis.
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation systems and commissioning across a variety of building types including commercial offices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Business English.
  • MS Office proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on SkySpark analytical experience or equivalent Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) / Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) platform — highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with SkySpark’s proprietary coding language, Axon.
  • Axon Query Development and coding.
  • Commissioning or retro-commissioning of HVAC systems.
  • Smart building technology knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to determine best practices in facilities management, maintenance practices, mechanical and HVAC engineering, and reliability engineering.
  • Understand equipment operation and design, and analyze sequences of operations to determine proper equipment operation and suggest better control strategies.
  • Perform energy analysis at the building, meter, and equipment level, preferably using bin model methodology.
  • Provide energy savings calculations for improvements made based on recommendations.
  • Perform ROI analysis.
  • Review documentation from existing mechanical systems to identify key monitoring points that will drive value in energy, maintenance, or equipment reliability and integrate these points into the Smart Building Platform.
  • Analyze client mechanical system documentation, rapidly gain familiarity with system designs, and apply that expertise to deliver meaningful insights through SkySpark and SBP analytics.
  • Work with project teams to integrate different building management/automation systems, energy management systems, and other systems that monitor and control equipment and spaces in all types of facilities.
  • Work with vendors, clients, site facility teams, networking, and information security teams to establish connections to remote systems.
  • Review output of Smart Building Platform and SkySpark analytics.
  • Work closely with the site engineering and maintenance teams to correct the root cause of any detected anomalies.
  • Ensure data quality and continuous data flow from all monitored systems and points.
  • Troubleshoot connection issues with remote systems and work with on-site resources and colleagues.
  • Develop new analytics in the Smart Building Platform as needs arise.
  • Document and review analytics with team members for roll out to different client sites.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence in new innovative ways to help strengthen the Smart Building Platform.
  • Clearly communicate results of data analysis to different levels of the organization including maintenance technicians, building automation experts, facility managers, and senior leaders.
  • Support site engineering teams in their troubleshooting efforts.
  • Understand the different causes of failure for equipment.
  • Report results regularly using standardized reporting through SBP as well as custom reports as needed.
  • Train clients to review SBP’s analytics and perform analysis to see results.
  • Assist clients in developing custom dashboards to fit their specific use case on the SBP.
  • Handle client phone calls to troubleshoot equipment directly with clients.
