About The Position

RL James is seeking a hands-on Small Tool & Equipment Mechanic to join its team at a new Sarasota warehouse. The mechanic will maintain and repair tools and equipment, working both in the warehouse and at job sites. The role covers bench repairs for tools such as grinders and jackhammers as well as field service for compressors, generators, and high-reach equipment. By keeping tools and equipment in working order, the mechanic helps crews keep projects on schedule.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience repairing small engines, power tools, or construction equipment.
Mechanical troubleshooting skills with electrical and pneumatic tools.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather when working in the field.

Nice To Haves

Experience with compressors, generators, or lifts.
Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair power and pneumatic tools, including grinders, jackhammers, drills, and saws.
Travel to job sites to diagnose and repair larger equipment, including compressors, generators, and high-reach lifts.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
Track parts, supplies, and tool condition, and flag items that need replacement.
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance logs.
Make occasional deliveries of tools, equipment, and materials to job sites.
Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe, and follow OSHA and company safety standards.
