About The Position

The Redland Company is hiring a Heavy Equipment / Small Engines Mechanic. On-the-job training is available if hired and eligible. Full-time and part-time options are available. The mechanic performs maintenance, inspections, and repairs on equipment such as vibratory plate tampers, 3-inch trash/water pumps, generators, and pickup trucks, both in the field and in the shop. The role also includes maintaining an orderly shop and ensuring tools and equipment are in working order.

Requirements

Knowledge of general equipment repair, including hydraulics, alternators, fuel lines, and hoses.
Excellent mechanical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read service and repair manuals and parts diagrams.
Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
Personal hand tools and a tool box are required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of CAT, John Deere, and Komatsu equipment.
Knowledge of Wacker/Bomag small engines.
Welding experience.
Experience maintaining and repairing Ford or Chevy pickup trucks.
Bilingual ability.
Small engine repair experience.
Related experience.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and repairs, including oil changes, spark plug replacement, and filter replacement, on equipment such as vibratory plate tampers, 3-inch trash/water pumps, and generators.
Perform inspections and necessary repairs in the field and in the shop.
Clean the shop and return tools to their proper locations.
Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
