About The Position

This role involves various levels of fabrication, welding, and machine operation, with increasing responsibilities and skill requirements at each level. All levels are expected to train others, operate various equipment, maintain housekeeping, safety, and quality standards, and follow standard operating procedures. Testing includes basic math, radial and circumference calculations, layout and welding questions, and a code weld test. Grade level will be assigned based on demonstrated knowledge and experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to run all grinding equipment
  • Ability to dye check parts for weld defects
  • Ability to perform touch-up
  • Ability to blast parts for enamel coating
  • Ability to prepare parts for fit up using knibbler and bug torch
  • Ability to read grinding prints
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to operate bandsaw
  • Ability to assume duties of lift truck/stacker operator
  • Ability to assist in small parts storeroom
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance repairs
  • Ability to run spinners to make shafts
  • Ability to operate furnace press to form parts using proper fixtures
  • Ability to run cover trimmer and drill presses
  • Ability to fit and tack various jobs using layout tools, cutting torches and applicable fixtures
  • Ability to pass horizontal and vertical stick welding tests
  • Ability to metallize upper ends of shafted pieces
  • Ability to pass mild steel welding test in mig and heli-arc
  • Ability to run the lathe for shafted pieces preparations
  • Ability to run the lathe used for welding ends or the lathe for making ends
  • Ability to run Linde to produce small parts components
  • Ability to pass alloy welding tests for stick, mig and heli-arc
  • Ability to run the lathe to produce ends
  • Ability to maintain machine shop Level 2 certification
  • Ability to operate the lathe for shafted pieces preparations
  • Ability to train others at their level of accomplished skill
  • Ability to run any equipment in the department, including but not limited to lathes, welding, grinding, or fabricating equipment, either for production or training
  • Ability to consistently maintain housekeeping, safety, and quality standards
  • Ability to follow current standard operating procedures
  • Pass Basic Math, radial and circumference, layout & welding questions
  • Pass a code weld test

Responsibilities
