About The Position

Under general supervision, to repair and maintain air cooled equipment and perform related work as required. This role involves performing complete overhaul and repair work on a variety of air-cooled equipment, diagnosing defects, and repairing/testing completed work. The position requires regular attendance and all duties are performed on-site. The employee is expected to work effectively with co-workers, customers, and others by sharing ideas constructively, listening to suggestions, keeping commitments, and addressing problems to find practical business solutions. The role also involves maintaining related records of maintenance and repair work and keeping the shop area safe and orderly.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school and experience in automotive and repair work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
• Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of light and heavy duty automotive and related equipment.
• Knowledge of the operating principles of gasoline and diesel engines.
• Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English.
• Ability to perform manual work requiring physical strength and stamina appropriate to the area of assignment.
• Ability to diagnose defects in engines and other running parts of automotive equipment.
• Ability to establish and effective working relationships with operations personnel.
• Ability to pass air-cooled certification.
• Skill in the use and operation of tools and machinery used in mechanical repair work.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
• Requires standing for periods of up to 4 hours, walking and repetitive motion for periods of up to 2 hours.
• Continual lifting of up to 50 lbs., frequent carrying of up to 20 lbs. and continual feeling, fingering, grasping, pulling, pushing and reaching.
• Frequent balancing, crawling, crouching, kneeling and stooping and occasional working at heights of up to 8 feet.
• Reading, problem solving, reasoning, verbal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete overhaul and repair work to a variety of air-cooled equipment ranging from Cushmans and mowers to construction equipment.
• Diagnoses defects, malfunctions and repairs/tests completed work.
• Repairs and overhauls transmissions, differentials, front and rear-end assemblies.
• Maintains related records of maintenance and repair work.
• Keeps shop area in a safe and orderly manner.
