About The Position

Idaho Small Business Development Center is seeking a Small Business Support Specialist 1. This is a part-time, seasonal job for the summer with no benefits. The hourly rate is $18.00.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business (or closely related field) or be actively working toward completing a Business degree (or closely related field) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Perform a variety of office support functions, including but not limited to communicating verbally and in writing, creating reports, and filling out forms.
  • Respond to inquiries and explain program services, policies, and procedures to current and potential clients.
  • Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for Idaho SBDC staff, including with department travel and department purchasing.
  • Provide customer service to clients, the public, the Idaho SBDC, Lewis-Clark State College, and other organizations.
  • File, scan, make copies, prepare and proof documents and correspondence, pick up and deliver mail to/from Lewis-Clark State College's mailroom.
  • Answer the phone and respond to e-mails, provide information, forward e-mails and calls, send out surveys, leave messages, and assist walk-in clients as needed.
  • When invited, assist Business Consultants with client projects concerning various business topics.
  • Maintain Center IC client database.
  • Input new clients, narratives, trainings, impacts, student projects, and create reports.
  • Check calendars and confirm appointments and workshop attendance.
  • Use Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and also Canvas to perform duties.
  • Coordinate work with other staff, interns, and students.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and trainings related to the position.
  • Keep track of hours worked and input on state time card system.
  • When invited, observe and participate with experienced Business Consultant(s) during appointments with selected clients.
  • Analyze issues, identify opportunities, and help clients regarding business management, marketing, accounting, operations, planning, leadership, regulations, and other business operations.
  • Conduct research and work on projects in order to assist clients, such as helping clients with business plans, marketing plans, cash flow projections, and other business projects.
  • Help center meet Idaho SBDC annual goals including the following: Client Business Starts, Capital Raised, Jobs Created, and Sales Growth.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information.
