We have an exciting opportunity for a SLS Orion Trajectory Analyst to join our ESSCA contract team at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL.

Requirements

  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Typical experience requirements are the equivalent a Masters with at least 3 years of experience, or BS with at 0-5 years of experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR ID.
  • The applicant must be detail oriented, work independently and collaboratively, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Trajectory Design and/or mission analysis experience
  • Python programming experience
  • Copernicus experience
  • Software & simulation integration OR Modeling & simulation experience
  • Dynamically model 3 and 6 DOF single body systems
  • Matlab, Fortran, C++ programming experience
  • Familiarity with Linux, Bash, and the use of computational clusters/servers

Responsibilities

  • Analyze launch vehicle and spacecraft, dynamics, equations of motion, and trajectories to assess performance of spacecraft trajectories, mission analysis, and related studies
  • Model ascent and in-space environments, errors, disturbances, GN&C algorithms, sensors, actuators, and mechanisms
  • Simulate and analyze nominal, contingency, and failure scenarios during ascent and in-space flight
  • Develop algorithms and tools to analyze 3 DOF trajectories using Monte Carlo techniques
  • Perform studies and insight analysis for NASA's HLS program
  • Execute/modify existing software/scripts in C, Python, C++
  • Support the design, integration, and analysis of GN&C products.
  • Configure, conduct, and analyze 6-DOF Monte Carlo simulations.
