About The Position

The Slot Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing slot machines, their component sub-assemblies, and related electronic and/or mechanical equipment. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, Internal Controls, and company and departmental policies and procedures. The technician will also maintain effective working relationships with regulatory representatives, other departments, and employees, while providing proactive customer service and resolving customer issues as needed. Duties include performing maintenance and repairs, moving and installing machines, and assisting Slot Attendants with minor repairs and ticket fills.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Able to comprehend basic mechanical slot machine functions and perform minor mechanical repairs such as coin jams, hopper jams, etc.
  • Able to comprehend basic electronic theory and its practical applications.
  • Able to learn intermediate and advanced electronic theory and applications.
  • Well-organized, produce legible & accurate paperwork & possess good cash handling skills.
  • Able to independently diagnose a problem’s cause through observation and analysis of outward symptoms, then perform required repairs within established procedures, but using initiative as the situation dictates.
  • Willing & able to work non-traditional schedules during special projects, particularly early mornings, nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Able to work in busy, crowded and potentially stressful conditions, and able to remain composed when dealing with irate customers.
  • Strong customer service skills, personality and orientation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to spend extended periods standing, walking, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping and/or lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair slot machines, their component sub-assemblies, and related electronic and/or mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, Internal Controls, and company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission Representatives, other departments, and employees.
  • Provide proactive customer service and resolve customer problems as required.
  • Perform maintenance and/or repair as needed, or as directed.
  • Move, convert, install, and remove machines as required.
  • Assist Slot Attendants with ticket fills and other small repairs per Internal Controls as needed or directed.
  • Act as technical advisor to the Operations Shift Manager and/or the IRGC on duty, as required.
