About The Position

Winpak is hiring a Slitting Supervisor based in Winnipeg, Manitoba to lead the Slitting Department. This role ensures customer requirements are met through the safe, timely, and cost-effective production of high-quality products. The Slitting Supervisor will lead and support hourly employees, drive accountability, and oversee day-to-day activities including work assignment and performance management, while promoting a culture of safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. The company is seeking a motivated leader with a passion for driving results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education, GED, or equivalent.
  • +5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • +2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory position.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a role requiring strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • +1 year of experience working with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • +1 years of experience using PC-based programs such as Excel, Outlook, and Word (or similar types of software).
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of slitting crews, including work assignment, performance management, and employee accountability.
  • Enforce company policies, corporate values, and collective agreement requirements, including administering discipline when necessary.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety policies, conducting audits, and leading safety talks.
  • Support Health & Safety initiatives, incident reporting, investigations, and timely resolution of safety-related actions.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, including SOPs/SOCs, product specifications, and completion of required checks and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control and participate in root cause analysis (8D) to resolve and prevent quality issues.
  • Drive productivity by monitoring KPIs, reporting performance, and implementing improvements to meet operational targets.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts, including problem-solving activities and employee engagement through regular team huddles.
  • Oversee employee training, cross-training, and performance evaluations, ensuring proper documentation and development.
  • Manage administrative duties such as scheduling, timekeeping/payroll submission, shift handovers, and participation in production meetings.
