About The Position

The Slitting Line Assistant is responsible for supporting the Operator to ensure optimal productivity, quality, and yield on the slitting line. This role includes substituting for the Operator when needed, such as during training periods, absenteeism, or vacations.

Requirements

• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
• Ability to read and understand written instructions
• Basic mathematical skills for measurement and calculations
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–2 years of experience in a production process, preferably in the metals industry
• Knowledge of reading measuring devices
• Basic computer knowledge for system interactions and data entry
• Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Demonstrated reliable work history
• Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks

Responsibilities

• Collect and move material to and from the machine efficiently
• Follow production instructions provided by the paired Operator
• Log into Steel II and accurately enter downtime codes as required
• Assist in verifying machine setups throughout the production process
• Periodically measure dimensions with a measuring tape to ensure accuracy
• Engage in continuous training to become a proficient Operator, adhering to established procedures.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management
